Bugs, I hate em!
Friday, April 1, 2005 by T-Man | Discussion: Developer Journals
Ok, this week was bug fix week for WC. Most of my bug fixes were related to admin tools so not too many of my fixes will be noticed. The rest of the crew worked on the more visible bugs so hopefully you have noticed some of thoe fixes already. But let me list some of the issues I worked on anyway:
- WinCustomize browser was not getting data from the new server, needed to change a few configuration settings because 2003 server is locked down tighter than 2000.
- Fixed author info link on skin moderation tool
- Fixed page load errors with the view ratings tools
- Fixed relogon bug with admin site
- Working on new getting new ads for our sites
- Added DirectX Specs for Stardock Central internals
- Fixed inconsistency and duplication of Skin Moderation emails
- Fixed KillCookies script
- Fixed: Moderation queues between main site and admin site were out of sync.
- Fixed watch list for WinCustomize Browser and Stardock Central
- Fixed download problem on personal pages where the download page would just refresh if HTTP_REFERER was blank
- Working on creating static data functions for base website library code
- Replicated data from main database to article database so the articles database can be more independant

| I'm getting this error when trying to open some threads: "Object reference not set to an instance of an object." |
I've been getting that lately too.

and
there is something wrong with stats, On the top .. it shows "visits this day"/"visits this month" .. and the same is repeated below which is just useless and instead it should be "visits overall"
and as far as I remember, my stats used to show that my site has been visited for some 15000 times but now it has been cut down to just 6774 times.Reply #47 Friday, April 8, 2005 3:35 PM

There was a bug that was incorrectly reporting the hits. It has been fixed and the lower number is the correct stat.
| and In addtion, two days ago, my profile was telling me that I have downloded some 2GB of data from WC but now it is showing 1.18GB ... any clue for it |
No clue. If you see the problem again give us a shout.

https://www.wincustomize.com/Forums.aspx?ForumID=202&AID=71509, I felt that it was not significant enough for a WinCustomize news item so I moved it to be under Personal Computing

Jafo wonders if he can do that.....it'd be handy to be able to relocate threads to their proper sections....

I have noticed over the past couple of weeks that at precisely 7:00 am US EST that the site comes to a crawl for awhile. Every weekday morning (not sure about weekends). Hope it helps with any remaining issues somehow.

We are running a job at that time that optimizes the indexes in the database so that is probably what is causing. I moved it back to start at 5:00am. Let me know if that changes anything.
