A DX coded start button that activates your start panel and a DX menu with the same click. If someone can accomplish this, I got a big thing brewing over here.

Night train: could you not just create an object in DX as a start button, edit script that calls the menu then runs the start button. something like

Sub Object_OnStateChange(state)

If Object.State = "Mouse up" then
DesktopX.Object("yourmenu").visible = True
Object.ExecuteCommand
End If

End Sub

???

Just an idea...i'm in no way a VB Scripter. If anything I'm a hack

Night Train: take a look at my royale desktopX theme. It has a dx start button which overlays the windows start button. It uses a 2 millisecond timer to stay on top of all windows (including the taskbar)

PixelPirate: there is a converter widget, at least there is one in my widget directory. Might have come with the newest version of DX, but it converts everything you can think of (well maybe not everything)

I too would like an address book which would allow the import of my Thunderbird contacts and which would load the 'write mail' screen when I double clicked on a contact. (basically essencays #2 )

Also like the calendar ideas

I need a simple widget made for me that shows the taskmenu thing that would normally be on the bottom right of the screen..

I would just like to see any widget that accesses the internet being able to handle proxy authentication. There are very few that I can use when I plug the laptop in at work.

Thomassen,

I'm trying to figure out how to do this with my gadget. It will clone itself 5 times when we start OnScriptEnter and delete all clones and the original when we do OnScriptExit. Can you do an example of this. Thanks.

this is purely a wish list.. i realize DX has some limitations, but mostly the ease and accessability of widgets makes me want to replace certain applications alltogether (like character map or type manager)

magnification widget..

widget manager widget (yes... like dashboard...)

map directions widget

sketch tool widget (let you draw out something you can copy and paste into another app like photoshop)

wireless network finder widget

dos shell widget

num pad widget (for lappy users) .. could be a calculator/num pad

black jack widget

note pad widget (like an advanced sticky pad, but individual notes scroll up into a title bar.. for having long notes you view at once. my thought is, when i'm scratch padding flash or html code but sticky notes are poor compromise and winkey+m is to lcoate my pad.txt file on my desktop is a pain in the butt)

car milage tracker widget

periodic table of elements widget (nice for students)

web MD search (because i'm ODC and a hyocondriac)

recent documents widget

recent webpages widget

favorites widget for firefox

flash/html reference widget (ie, webmonkey search in the fashion of the silica dictionary search)

ping widget

stardock irc widget

character map widget (for locating all those symbols)

high tide/low tide widget

clipboard viewer widget

windows/microsoft/office update notification widget

highlighter tool widget (just something that you can wipe across the screen to highlight text or make marks on something on screen.. maybe you can then print screen it and toss it in another app).. even draw transparent boxes to hihglight areas of things. ... maybe i just want people to stop putting their fingers on my screen while i'm speaking to something.

surround sound mixer widget (i dont know how possible that is given the different sound cards)

audio note taker widget (press record, speak into a mic, you can play it back later)

crop tool (imagine blacking out or dimming the whole screen except for an area you draw, so you can focus on something when you're speaking to the screen ... i find myself always speaking to in-progress stuff on multiple screens, same with the sketch widget)

'this day in history' widget

reuters headline news feed

cpu temperature/voltage guage

cd burner widget (ever used 'drag to disc'?)

stardock updates notifier widget

Shel Silverstein short story of the day (..yes, really..)

useless fact of the day (somebody's gotta have a database)

"jump to conclusions mat" becaues its cooler than the 8-ball on the mac..

sheep. remember those little sheep from win98, you could have a zillion of them on your screen? my cat loves those things

journal writer.. maybe it links into joe user, but you dont need to open your wb page.. you can just muse from your desktop

kill application widget (click on button, click on window, window gone. you can just rapid fire close apps.. thought is, it acts as a force quit)

'lock desktop' widget (winkey+l basically)

'lock keyboard' widget (got a cat?)

music game widget (plays songs from your library, try and guess the song from a list)

TV Guide widget

briefcase widget (for tinksync..)

yule log widget

sports scores (one that works) - specifically baseball and hockey

network places viewer.. or, a window that opens something like my computer that maybe only shows mapped drives ( i have tons of mapped drives at work )

mouse battery strength (for you and me, Voo )

font viewer

ok i'm done for now. speaking of ease and accessibility - what if Objectdocks could be made visible by hitting a hot key, like your widgets? imagine hitting alt+` and an objectdock taskbar of your own design comes up center screen.

I still really, really want a nice Web comic widget (the one for Kapsules is excellent) and an appointment/calendar widget and task list that integrate with Outlook nicely.

I'm working on an Album Art widget/gadget. The plan is to have it popup on a track change and auto fetch the album cover from the internet and cache the image for later use. Baring any unforeseen problems an initial version should be ready by this weekend.
