naked wallpapers

a seperate category perhaps??

Thursday, January 27, 2005 by _Of_Gilead | Discussion: WinCustomize Site Issues

Well, as a mom I want to ask that you get rid of all the very naked chics appearing in the wallpaper section...but as a wincustomise junkie I understand and appreciate that stardock and wincustomise allow us to be creative and to customise our computers however we all dang well please. So, I propose a compromise: Can you make a seperate category altogether for that kind of thing so that those of us who don't wish to see it (or for any of our family or children to see it) don't have to as we browse the wallpapers? Naked Wallpapers. The new category, eh?

why grown men "collapse in a fit of giggles" is because of mothers like
this, who are afraid to let their children see any kind of nudity....
i do however respect her choise.....

In all seriousness, we do our best to filter out all "naked chick" wallpapers, logons, bootskins, etc. WinCustomize's policy is that we are a family friendly site and such material is not welcome here. If you have encountered something that slipped under the radar though, please point it out, preferably by emailing a moderator so as not to single anyone out in a public thread. You can find a list of moderator email addresses on the right column of this page: https://www.wincustomize.com/AboutSite.aspx

The example used looks harmless to me Fuzzy Logic shrugs shoulders...

I don't like the "if it offends one person it should be taken down" suggestion.

Nuvem has one, but this is kind of a silly thing. Big difference between art and porno nekkid chicks, mostly whether it's gratuitous or tasteful.

Hows this for a thought: You need to be 13 or older to be on this site. It says that when you register, so that much is clear. What 13 year old hasnt seen worse than that? You see more in sex ed class!

Ditto. What if I, as a paying subscriber, decide to dislike orbs?

This also boils down to parental moderation.

Hmm....is that wall with the dragon in it was the one she was referring to...I really don't see a problem with it. It's quite tasteful and artful. You should see some of the things that have been rejected.

Uh Oh... you and I both would be screwed!!

I also want to mention that I respect what dobagen is saying, but I don't really know where she is seeing these naked walls. I wasn't patronizing her in my first post, I simply don't think there is anything on this site that is unsuitable for kids. If there is, I apologize, but I have found this site to be perfectly tastful and child user friendly... I would be one of the first to complain if I thought there was something inappropriate here. And moderators do a great job of cleaning up the language in the forums.

Children, children, behave or I'll call your mothers.

dobagen: Post some links to examples (or email those links to the mods) so the mods can investigate.

I stand corrected on the taking down part. It's not what I meant and the issue doesn't concern me enough to explain what I meant to say.

The difference between porn and art is undefinable. It all depends on who is making judgement.

NUDITY AND PORNOGRAPHY:
This is a slightly difficult topic, but as a general rules artwork containing male or female frontal nudity will be not accepted. We can occasionally bend this rule if the artwork is truly exceptional and if the nudity it contains is only an element of the artwork, not the subject in itself. VIOLENCE: No artwork making the promotion of violence or explicitly representing images of death, blood or physical harm will be accepted. Will also be rejected any artwork promoting discrimination, prejudice or any form of disrespect to any ethnic, religious or gender group.

The rules as I found them and the Admins and Wizops here do a bang up job keeping this place PG-13.

...and I'm okay with orbs provided they're not those chrome orb lawn ornaments people stick in their frontyards.

In all fairness, WC subscriptions are sold under the pretences that this is a family site. There are wallpapers and more importantly screenshots that are not family site material. PG 13 does not cover nudity. Personally I am not bothered by them but if a community memeber is then it should be removed. Even 1 single nipple shown is opening the door for something else. Soon you have a kiddie porn site like DA.
Dobogan, I think you have raised a perfectly reasonable issue and the people that turned this thread into joke should be a little ashamed.

Thank you for you concern. I have no problem with jokes. I find no offense in anythinng anyone said, and I find no offense in the two wallpapers I was referring to (recent posts by Kenwas). They were not violent in any way. I think he mentioned something about illustrating for a book. They have a fantasy theme going on.
The fact is frontal nudity is usually where the line is drawn for family friendly sites. I agree with what was said in regards to good parenting. No site should be the parent -- that's my job.
I also agree that one member should not determine what goes on a site.
I've looked at nearly every bootskin, logon, and wallpaper listed on wincustomise. Those I don't like, I skip past. This is the first time I've seen full nudity.
My concern with frontal nudity (i.e. bare chested women) is that (as someone else mentioned) once one person does it, someone else may do it, and some frontal nudity can lead to all frontal nudity.
I appreciate wincustomize's screening process...a fun job, I'm sure. I guess I was just wondering what the poloicies were and if we were going to see more nudity. I wanted to post instead of email mainly to see other member's opinions as well.
It's hard to know what to ask for on such an opinion based topic. I agree with the pg-13 rating. I can't think of any pg-13 movies with full female frontal nudity (now theres a PC phrase for you). Can anyone name some?
