After applying 24H2 updates KB5050094 - Cant open any desktop folders
Friday, January 31, 2025 by MeanMrGene1968 | Discussion: Windows 11
After Installing Windows Update KB5050094 - I cant open any folders on my desktop, access shortcuts to my drives, or open "My Computer". Direct shortcuts to programs still work.
I tried rebooting - turning off Deskscapes, Fences .... but nothing seems to work.
The only thing I could find that helped - was to remove the update, restart and turn "automatic updates" off.
I don't know if there is a conflict with Window Blinds? Icon Packager? Cursor FX? or any other Stardock Programs that I have running on my computer.
If anyone is experiencing the same issues - and has fixed it - or knows what might be causing the problem - please let me know.

Cheers!! - Ive also been told that if you install the NEW Beta version of WindowBlinds - that will correct the issue as well.
I think I will hold off till the final version of the WindowBlinds update comes out and do what you suggested.
Thanks so much for your quick reply.

It's WindowBlinds. I have 6 PCs, all of which have WindowBlinds. 4 of them have this issue. If I change the skin to the Windows default, File Explorer loads fine. I was able to fix it by first switching to the Windows Default theme, uninstalling WindowBlinds, rebooting, installing KB5050094, rebooting, then reinstalling WindowBlinds.
