My good friend Jim (RedneckDude) found out today that he has been diagnosed with an Aortic Aneurysm. Please send him love and prayers in this post, he definitely has mine!

I'd say that qualifies as good news. Sorry you had to go through that period of uncertainty but all's well that... you know the rest.
(Guess it's a good thing they didn't scan your head?)

They can retrieve older chest films and equate, hopefully. One thing for sure: You have no aneurysm.

Btw, worrying won't change what's there (which I hope is benign or an old T.B. exposure)...so, relax.

Well, they said benign. How can they tell that without a biopsy? CT scan would show benign or malignant?
There are CT signs of malignancy...

And, they may already have looked at past xrays as well. However, even with biopsy there are intermediate nodules whose malignancy/benignity isn't definitive.

Ok, I just spoke with the Dr. It is a 4CM nodule. I start Chantix tomorrow.
EDIT It's MM, not CM.

Isn't that what they used to get people to quit smoking, or am I mixing that with something else?

New diagnosis.
Emphysema, COPD, nodule on left lung, right lung is full of some kind of infection. This according to the Pulmonologist.
I am on 2 strong antibiotics, 2 inhalers, another round of steroids.
The Dr. wants to clear all this up and then do a pulmonary function test and a walk test.
Meanwhile I'm doing Chantix (generic) and nicotine lozenges to stop smoking.
Some OTC stuff called NAC that is supposed to loosen things up. Tessalon pearls to quieten cough at night so I can sleep.
Full on CT scan in January.

Git 'er done, Jim. Good luck with the smoking. Stay strong in your resolve. Holding good thoughts for you!

Do your best to get of the smokes.
I was a smoker but back in 2003 I was told I needed heart surgery. I gave up smoking cold turkey and have not had a smoke since. I cannot even stand the smell of a smoke now.
All the best
