Can I Dual Boot With OS X?

Apples and Lemons....

Friday, November 22, 2013 by RedneckDude | Discussion: Macintosh

Is it possible to dual boot OS X with a Windows OS?

If so, how hard would it be, and how different from the normal dual boot situation?

If not, why?

As long as you have one of the newer Intel based Macs you can install Boot Camp from Apple and install Windows 7.

I guess I should have been more precise.

I have a windows PC. I'd like to put OS X on it as a dual boot with Windows 7.

Can I do it?     Not an Intel based system.

it depends on your hardware. for this you should do some Google searches for "hackintosh insertspecificationofhardwarehere".

an Intel processor sure would be better.

how to install depends on the version of OS X you want to install. also keep in mind that the only way to get a copy of Mountain Lion or Mavericks is software piracy. there are no retail boxes. for Lion you might be lucky and to find one of those usb sticks they had in the Apple stores back then.

Damn. Well surely there is a release version I can get legit? Just want to mess with it. I want to learn it. My bro in law bought a mac book, and will be needing help fixing it when he tears it up, and he will.

you can find Lion usb sticks on eBay. some of them are probably even original. it's just two years old, so that should be recent enough.

but first make sure your hardware is compatible.

Thanks moshi. This looks too much like a daunting task and I think I might just let my bro in law get someone else to fix his Mac book...lol.

I'm not gonna hose my system for it. This stuff is probably over my head. I was hoping it'd be as easy as dual booting with Ubuntu, or another Windows OS.

It's as easy as buying an Apple. What's one more computer?
