Video Drivers Stopped Responding?
Thursday, January 12, 2012 by Daiwa | Discussion: PC Hardware
Have a 3 month old Inspiron 17R laptop, Win7 64bit, Intel HD3000 graphics.
Just had the monitor briefly go blank as I'm typing away & a tooltip message appeared after the display returned indicating that the igfx video driver had 'stopped responding' and successfully recovered. That's all that Event Viewer tells me, as well.
Something I've never run into before. Is this a harbinger of something bad or a relatively common experience?
Thx.

Probably because it rhymes with Expensive.

I kinda think this is the continuing saga of intel drivers (started with Vista).
Looked around a bit and found this: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-hardware/display-driver-igfx-stopped-responding-and-has/ca276b0e-414f-4f1b-aea4-a6e59eb575d4
which really sounds like your problem description....
Very extensive answer.
Good luck, Daiwa.
