Really smooth edges

Friday, July 23, 2004 by Richard Mohler | Discussion: Stardock Software

I was just wondering if anyone knows how to get really smooth edges on objects? I mean ant-alias is checked but sometimes they just look all jagged. Any suggestions? Seems like it's mostly on rounded rectangles.

I suppose it depends on what type of image you are working on. tga's and png's support transparency so it's easier to get smoother edges. bmps just take talent and practice but jaggy is somewhat unavoidable in some instances. The color of the image and the background make a huge difference as well. Ex. Dark image on light background will be jaggy unless they are blended as the same image.

What are you working on?

Richard... if you're talking about PSP8 > Preset Shapes > Rounded Rectangle, yes the corners can get distorted because no matter what size you make your rectangle, the corners are always the same size. To fix it, Create the shape as a vector. Select the Pen Tool, and now you can adjust the corners.
