Start button disappearing
Thursday, August 25, 2011 by aczubak | Discussion: Windows 7
For some reason when i activate most of the visual styles my start menu disappears . like igraphite or mezzanine or pricision or any of the downloadables.
anyone experienced this before? i'm new to WinCustomize but i'd like to get it working as it is pretty awesome lol.

Well it wouldn't let me hit the "copy to clipboard" button. So just manually highlighted and copied. I do use 2 monitors, not that i think that should matter?

Do you have any other customizing software installed (like Visual Styles or msstyles)?
Did you recently update Windowblinds?

When did you install the trial? Did it work when first installed?

I have neither of those programs installed.
i installed it fresh yesterday when i discovered the problem.

If that is the case, it sounds like you didn't get a clean install. Uninstall WB and run CCleaner or similar. Reboot and re-install WB's with any AV/Malware apps disabled. Reboot when prompted and check for functionality.

So i uninstalled, ran ccleaner through the registry. then reinstalled. same issue. i can actually hit the space that the start button is suppoed to be, and a very see through menu appears. so its kind of like the button doesn't show a graphic but is still function there??

I had a thought, and I could be way off base here, but all the skins you mentioned were made with "vista style positioning' on the start button. Try one that does not have that enabled. Garnet Storm is one that I know does not have that (cause I made it). If you load that one, and your problem goes away, then maybe your computer is having trouble with that setting.
It's just a shot in the dark, but it can't hurt to give it a try.

Bummer. Well at least that eliminated one possibility.
