Blank menus
Sunday, July 24, 2011 by MouseGoddess | Discussion: Windows Vista
I don't know if anyone can help me with this, but I just developed a strange problem with some (not all) of my sub menus. Particularly, it seems, with the ones that have sliders to adjust something. They're blank. Nothing shows but the slider itself, but no writing at all!
I've changed fonts, changed Windowblinds style, transparency, everything I can think of.
Any ideas?
BTW, I deleted some fonts a couple weeks ago, the ones I never use. Could that have something to do with it? I hope not because they're gone.....

This is a shot of a sub menu with slider adjustments.
(I deleted it)

Why not go back and edit out the text wall, MG?
If you can take the screenshot and upload it to imageshack or to photobucket, then just post the link?
Also, did you try to restore the text (reply #2)?

Oops. I tried the html box...no go.
Send me the pic and I can post it, if you like.

Are you using XP or Vista/Win7?
Are you using the correct substyle for your OS?

Mouse Goddess, if you click the small picture icon in the reply box you'll get another box that will allow you to paste in the url that you have above, and that will in turn show the picture.

I read the article-I'm running Vista and also I think that deletes everything but the Windows fonts and I have a lot of fonts I couldn't replace.
(Hmmm, guess I could back 'em up first. DUH!)

OK, I know you posted it for me (thank you) but I wanted to try out what you said. It looks good now, but it did before, until I posted it! LOL
Here goes.....

WOW, it worked! Thanks for that info, Dude. I just never paid any attention to the buttons on this forum, or ever wanted to post a pic. ![]()
Now, another problem, I just noticed the text on some parts of this site is pink!

what is that menu from? what program? I have seen something similar in windows 7 while going through the Winstep configuration menus.
Edit: that IS a winstep menu, lol. I get the same thing there. I think it might be a winstep issue. Have you seen it anywhere else?

Nexus Dock, advanced fluid surface settings, I just checked it with a few blinds, all ok.

Wiz, what version are you using? I'm using Winstep Extreme 11.6.

MouseGoddess, just do this:
Open the elevated command prompt by choosing "Run as administrator"

in the window (dos) which opens, type in the syntax sfc /scannow
as I typed it with a space between the sfc and the /scannow but no space after the slash.
Therefore - to sum up:
-
Open Command Prompt.
Important: You must run Command Prompt as an administrator in Windows 7 and Windows Vista to use System File Checker.
-
Once Command Prompt is open, type the following command and then press Enter.
sfc /scannow
Note: There's a space between sfc and /scannow.
-
System File Checker will now verify the integrity of every protected OS file on your computer.
Note: In some situations, especially in Windows XP and Windows 2000, you may also need access to your original Windows installation CD or DVD.
-
Restart your computer if sfc /scannow did actually repair any files.
Note: System File Checker may or may not prompt you to restart but even if it doesn't, you should restart anyway.

11.6 here as well. Didn't Knot Aero come as an XP skin first (Knot Vista) Is MG using the correct one for her OS?

It does this on all the blinds in my inventory except the Aero ones, which is why I was thinking it was a Winstep issue. (shrugs)

Yes, it could be the fonts, especially if they were native windows fonts. A screenshot would help tho.
