HELP with do....

Wednesday, December 31, 2003 by Lady Aarielle | Discussion: Stardock Software

Hi all-
I'm having a problem downloading again. I cannot download unless I do it through my "WC Browser". Furthermore, the skins downloaded with the browser do not show up on my "WB Config", nor in "skin studio" if I have to alter something.
I am a level 4 user. Not only can I not download but as soon as I sign in the ratings disappear. This has been an ongoing problem since summer. Someone helped me straighten it out before but it's happening again and it's getting to be a real nuisance. > Please help.

Oooopps....was that a major point there?
OK I found WinCustomize....loved it....so I tried WindowBlinds. Eventually I got the paid version. Then I tried IconPackager and eventually bought it as well. Then I tried WinStyles and CusorXP but did not purchase those. Finally in an effort to support Wincustomize I bought the Memebership and started using the Browser because I could download without any hassles.
However, the other day I wanted to learn how to alter certain features on skins and when 1/4 Crazy Travis was taking me through the process I realized that what I downloaded through the "Browser" was not in my "WB config". And I was again unable to download....and here we are!!

Then you do not have an 'ObjectDesktop' Subscription? https://www.stardock.com/products/odnt/

P.S.
I have no problems downloading through the "Browser".... but it's my understanding that when you buy "WindowBlinds" you do not have a cap or limit. However, I started having problems downloading "WindowBlinds" long ago.
I could be wrong but I get the feeling that "WinCustomize" doesn't recognize me as having bought them.
I originally wrote "suppot" about the problem but never had any replies.

I thinks that is the problem. SDC was meant for ObjectDesktop, at least I think it is. And for the downloading problem have you cross referenced your accounts?

Travis...for the last time ....not now

Well, that answers a lot of questions.....

You bought IP and WB (that is why the correct versions show in SDC). Everything else un-install from your machine because they're of no value to you.

In SDC click on 'Registration Info' in lower right corner. Put your serial #'s for both proggies and click 'update'. If you haven't done it already, do the same thing with the WCBrower since you also bought that. SDC should be installed no matter what you have.

If you want to use the other proggies you must buy ODNT and all will be well....I don't have to tell you I wish you had bought that first, but like everything else...live and learn. For what it's worth, it's well worth the money...

Hi Crazy Travis-
Yes, back in July or there abouts I tried cross referencing accounts and that didn't help... again I wrote Stardock Support but again no replies. The only way I found around the problem was to re-install every time that WC wouln't let me download. That got old real fast and so I posted about the problem and Gary solved it for me but then I had problems again and WC was having its move so I just used the 'Browser'... and then the other day I found out that what was downloaded with the browser was not in my WB config.... so here we are...

IP, WB and WCBrowser should work flawlessly after you clean house of this other stuff....you can e-mail Stardock and get your serial #'s and a link for the correct version (if you don't think you have the right one now). After that you can update your 3 proggies thru SDC with no problems. https://www.stardock.com/support.asp

Actually, I WAS going to buy "ObjectDeskTop" but when support didn't answer any of my emails I opted for just trying and buying. Of course back then I didn't know that you guys on the 'boards' would be so helpful.

I'm really sorry for putting you through all this but I had no idea how this all tied together.

Supposing I just decide to keep "WindowBlinds" and "IconPackager"........... I still do not understand why I cannot download WindowBlinds since I am not supposed to have a limit.

I neglected to say that I started having problems downloading WindowBlinds before I started trying these other programs so at the risk of sounding very obtuse... I still don't understand the underlying problem.

Gary, I would like to thank you very much for helping me out again and hope you don't have a migraine.

Thank you again and I'm on my way to cleaning house.

You're welcome....and to answer your question about the WB install: I would uninstall it and use the link they e-mail to you to get the full correct version you paid for. You can then update it thru SDC and it should then work without problems...I'd do the same thing with IP. Your install of WCBrowser should be fine.

....now get to cleanin'

Just read that....#1 I think you have different versions on your machine (flavors come in 'Trial' 'Shareware/Enhanced') and they were not registered. #2 Once you register your proggies in SDC as noted above, all caps and limits will be gone.

When it's all said and done you need to do 3 things:

1- un-install everything except SDC and WCBrowser
2- Get serial #'s and D/L links for your three proggies and install them (after that update thru SDC)
3- Register the proggies in SDC 'Reg Info' section for all 3 proggies

OK, I got it now.
Will do.... I'll probably get ObjectDeskTop soon.

While I've gotcha here (don't run ) but, how do I load a pic here instead of having to load it as my desktop picture. In other words I don't know how to use the insert image thing.
