Venom for WB - Released

come to the darkside...

Tuesday, April 27, 2010 by vStyler | Discussion: New Releases

I wanted to make a red and black theme that took advantage of the dramatic contrasts that this color combo can achieve.

It's been described many ways by folks as I have been building it... devilish, menacing, provocative, wikked, luminescent, masterpiece, fierce, ''pushing the envelopes''  However you may feel about it after loading it up I truly hope that enjoy the experience. It has been a challenging and time consuming theme to construct.

All matching skins will be loaded soon on Wincustomize.com, and there are a bunch, and lastly as I have mentioned before all truly dark skins will have a couple of areas here and there that can cause problems, mostly in MS Office, I have included a light version for each OS. There is also a winflag Start button alternative included in the zip that can be dropped in the WB folder.

Please leave your thoughts on this theme, thanks and Enjoy VENOM!

3.5 is as close to Win7 compatible as you can get right now. DesktopX 4.0 is barely windows compatible IMHO.

I can't get it to run correctly on my 7. Tried several times, always reverting to 3.5.

They'll get it worked out eventually tho.

Weather Widget at DA now also!!

http://puterdudejim.deviantart.com/art/Venom-Weather-162261893

Not working for me with DX4 / XP (just get the black piece without any weather icon in, even toggle units don't work )

EDIT: I tried to do a revert back to DX 3.5, reboot, delete the widget cache, launch the venom weather, but still the same trouble ...

N.B: the latest RedneckDude's Blue Wing weather (with which i had changed location to "Toussus Le Noble, France") is working correctly with both DX4 & DX 3.5 on XP SP3

many old DX widgets are not working or just buggy in 7 (not in xp) ...guess i'll just wait for more new DX widgets/theme. and why can't i see the DEGREE mark (the circle 1 before X f/c) but i see question mark ? all the weather widget are like that...am i missing some fonts? and all clocks are missing their hands...sighed...guess i'll keep on using OB+WB+FX on 7 only

I can't reproduce this, nor can I find anyone else with the problem....

I am looking into it.

I tried to edit both your "BlueWing weather" & "Venom weather" to have a look:

Even with yours (which is working correctly indeed), when importing the widget, i get firstly an error message:

"There has been a script error in object "Weather_Back"

To correct the error, click "Disable & Edit" below

Type incompatible: g'(...)'

line: 1

code:

(not avaible)

N.B: i get a similar error message when importing your BlueWing Weather or Venom Weather same way with DesktopX 3.5 and DesktopX 4 beta

I have 2 PCs and a laptop in my house and I have  not been able to recreate any script errors on any of them, all running DX 3.5 Pro.

Tried on all 3 OSes, Win XP, Win Vista, and Win 7. All 32 bit. I am unable to get this error.  Wizard1956, my tester, has Win 7 64 bit, no problems.

I am sorry.

Please send the widget to me at [email protected]

Or you could just copy the script, paste it into an email, send it.

Also, go to your DesktopX directory, and delete the WUexternalscript.txt file.  If you have, or have had DX4 installed, you'll have another DX directory in public/shared documents.  Run the widget again.

Try this neophil,

When you get the script error, choose disable and edit. Copy and paste this in and overwrite the existing "bad" script. This is the script contained in my working version.

'Called when the script is executed
Sub Object_OnScriptEnter
 exScript = Desktopx.ExecutableDirectory & "\NOAAWUexternalscript.txt"
 Set fso = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")
 If fso.fileexists(exScript) Then
  Include(exScript)
 Else
  fso.copyfile Object.Directory & "\NOAAWUexternalscript.txt", exScript
  Include(exScript)
 End If
 Startup
End Sub

Sub Include(sInstFile)
 On Error Resume Next
 Dim oFSO, f, s
 Set oFSO = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")
 If oFSO.FileExists(sInstFile) Then
  Set f = oFSO.OpenTextFile(sInstFile)
  s = f.ReadAll
  f.Close
  ExecuteGlobal s
 End If
 Set oFSO = Nothing
 Set f = Nothing
End Sub

Sub Object_OnScriptEnter

exScript = Desktopx.ExecutableDirectory & "\NOAAWUexternalscript.txt"

Set fso = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")

If fso.fileexists(exScript) Then

Include(exScript)

Else

fso.copyfile Object.Directory & "\NOAAWUexternalscript.txt", exScript

Include(exScript)

End If

Startup

End Sub

Sub Include(sInstFile)

Set f = oFSO.OpenTextFile(sInstFile)

s = f.ReadAll

f.Close

ExecuteGlobal s

End If

Set oFSO = Nothing

Set f = Nothing

End Sub

That's exactly the script i get in your's with which i get the error message (when importing the widget with DX Builder) mentionned :

"There has been a script error in object "Weather_Back"

BTW, as i said your's Blue Wing Weather widget is working as it should but not the Venom Weather

EDIT: just tried to remove the line 1 = 'Called when the script is executed and i don't get the script error anymore (but venom weather still don't work ...)
