SysMetrix METAR data
weather data retrieval
Saturday, January 2, 2010 by machinehd | Discussion: OS Customization
Has anyone else noticed that as of Jan 1st, the METAR data doesn't work for most sites to retrieve weather info? Almost every site responds with a Parse error. I've R&R'd Sysmetrix thinking it may be a corrupt data file but the problem persists. I read some forums saying it's possibly the Weather Channel but Sysmetrix retrieves it's data from NOAA. Does anyone have a line of why this is happening? NOAA's weather site still uses the same 4-character METAR codes and they don't mention any changes.

Indeed--it looks like the old folks have come out.

@Nick, while we are at it : It would be uber-nice if You could find a way for Sysmetrix 3.5 (
) a skinner could define a drive meter 1 time only and then let the end-user decide which drives he wants to monitor. Would need to mirror everything belonging to that drive meter X times then by tiling or so.

Ok, I've posted SysMetrix 3.44 (http://www.xymantix.com/sysmetrix/download), so download it when you get a chance and let me know if there are still any problems with Windows 7. I think I got everything taken care of, but don't have a system yet to test on, so I'm still flying blind. I did order a copy of Windows 7 64-bit, though, so I'll be making the leap next week!
Calle, that's a great idea about the drives. I think it would be a nice addition for everyone, so I'll add it to the todo list!
Nick

I just downloaded the update and memory and those things associated with it seem to working fine. Running Win 7 64 bit with 8GBs of memory.
I need to go find a skin that looks at multiple core CPU's so I can check the other stuff. Do you have any suggestions of a skin to try?

Cliff checked it out on Windows 7, and says it works fine. (At first glance, at least).

it keeps saying a file is missing when I try to install it?

I tried installing it (3.44) on XP over 3.41 several times, and it wouldn't. 3.43 had even more file problems on installation (try again, ignore, abort). Then I uninstalled 3.41 with Revo Uninstaller in the advanced mode (which gets rid of leftover bits), and it worked.

I did a fresh install of 3.44 on a Windows 7 computer with no problems. I tried Pool by pinchecl which reads several drives, and it worked.
