Pushing the Limits of My Skills
...hope I have some hair left when this is finished....
Friday, January 1, 2010 by Xiandi | Discussion: Sneak Previews
Everything you see...every spike, rivet, and strap...I made in Photoshop. I'm rather proud of myself, lol. This one is going to test my skills, and push my limits like no other blind, so if you hear screaming in frustration....it's just me pulling out my hair.
This start panel took a long time to get right...and I learned a few things in the process. I imagine that this one will take a while to complete.
It still needs a name. It's called Armageddon. (Thanks Syd!)

I think we have a Master skinner in our midst! If not by title, by skill.

The whole thing is a work of art, I,personally am very impressed, most people might have given up on something as complex as this, Its really good to see a fellow WC skinner doing things the right way, your a shining example.
Proud of ya. ![]()

meh
i like the image from the start button - like a skull and shit
but
i would rather see a big ass square button for the start button, to go with the big ass upper shoulder spike things.
i dont wanna go mojo but a big ass square metal start button, and having just a few thin crack lines with subtle fire color between the cracks would totaly f*kg rock.
why wont i make a think like that myself?
because i couldnt get myself to do something like that! ![]()

Some progress....
Murex has graciously volenteered to make a DX theme for this blind. Whle he was playing around with ideas, he made a couple things for his DX that I just have to use in my blind. I know I said I was going to use only my work, but once I saw what he made....I just couldn't resist.
He made a sword, an axe and some shields, and sent them to me. I tweaked the sword and shield (the axe was perfect) a bit to match the blind a bit better and put them in. I have them in the loading screen, the control panel branding, and the start button. (I'm using them in the wallpaper too, but I'm not showing that off just yet)
2of3 suggested that my next shot of the blind should be on a lighter background to show off some of the detail. So...here is what I got so far. Vista is pretty much done.

Way to go, Merle. I'm glad to see you up to something. This really is spectacular, Cyndie. Tim's right--it does help to have a light background.

scrollbars, nav buttons, icons, tabs, flattened the windowframe a bit so it looks like the taskbar, redid the toolbar buttons so the normal state is blank, plus alot of controls and little bits are done.
Still a couple things to fix...the progress animation is jumping, urgh. The 'please wait' screen is almost done. The wallpaper is almost done. I'm getting there!
