Cannot Rate Skins! >:(
Friday, July 24, 2009 by Mirsguy | Discussion: WinCustomize Site Issues
Sorry to bring up an age-old WC problem again, but I cannot rate skins.
I am an Apprentice, but my WC subscription has run out. Can't afford to renew right now, but Apprentices are supposed to be able to rate skins...
I have logged off and logged back in to WC. I have also tried clearing my cache.
Any solutions? ![]()

Hmmm, if cleaning out cookies and browser history doesn't help Mirsguy and Anakey have you made any recent changes lately to how you sign in to WC?

Also, log off WC then clear cookies, history and temp files. Then log back into WC.

Very good suggestion--I tried all of these things (just now) and it didn't work.
Another thing to note: I could not log off from WC. I would press the "log off" button, and nothing would happen like it used to. I wasn't logged off until I cleared my info upon closing Firefox. Then, of course, I had to log in when I re-opened FF and navigated here.

No. The only thing remotely like this is that my subscription recently ran out.
I'd love to renew, but keep it real, the funds aren't there right now. ![]()

Same thing was happening to me. Try going to settings just above where you log in and then click update. It worked for me. but I have to do it every time I log in. It happens on both IE and Firefox. Neither will remember my password anymore so it must be a bug of some sort.

Okay... this problem persists for me. Only now, I am a subscriber and I've gone up a couple of user levels.
None of the above suggestions seem to work for me. Most of the time, my title at the top says "Citizen" instead of "Journeyman," like I've set it to. Most of the time, I cannot rate skins.
Another annoyance is that, a few days ago I tried to update a skin. When I updated it, my title at the top said "Citizen," and the update had to go through moderation, even though my user level grants me immediate uploads.

It doesn't matter what the title says, that doesn't affect status. All updates go through moderation, no matter what your level.

Didn't know that.
Either way, It seems that when my title says "Journeyman," I can rate skins, and when it doesn't, I can't. When it doesn't, it's a huge rigamaroll to get it to display properly so that I can rate skins.
If I have to live with it, I will; it's just kind of annoying.

Don't feel bad. I've been a citizen for almost a year. Tried it on 15 different machines, with no results.
It kind of leaves a bad taste, because I feel I've had privilages taken away, and wasn't told why.
I've talked to Island Dog about it and was told, TMan would look into it. That's been a long while ago.
I'm hoping, the new site will be better with this.

Yeah, maybe so. Hope so! Maybe that's why this hasn't been addressed...? Cuz it's going to be fixed on the new site...soon...?

My trick for proper user level showing correctly (using the latest version of firefox):
1. Open WC homepage
2. Open forum page in new tab
3. Refresh homepage (f5)
My proper user rank is now displayed.
Option 2.
1. Open your personal page
2. Click on my settings
3. After checking that proper honorific is selected in the drop down menu, click the update button

Thanks Tim, but these don't consistently work for me, either!

I haven't tried it on IE, so I can't say if it works on other browsers. But it works 100% on FF 3.5.7 (for me anyway)

I use Opera and after I run cc cleaner or whatever cleaning program it will say Citizen. Than I have to do what Tim said and thats to go into my settings and just hit update and it will go to the proper rating. It doesn't do it if I use IE.

Whenever I have this problem, using a differnt browser works for me.

Is it working for you now? It is for me.
I haven't done anything different or changed anything. It just started working.
Maybe one of the Admins. saw this thread. ![]()
I'll keep my fingers crossed. ![]()

Never mind. It was just a fluke.
Seemed wierd, after almost a year, it worked once just hours after I mentioned something here. ![]()

This Problem will never end...
Everytime when i'm trying to rate, i got the following Message: Sorry, but only Apprentices and Wincustomize Subscribers can rate a skin.
I'm an Apprentice and a Subscriber but i can't rate. NEVER! ...and it sucks!![]()
..and by the way, i'm showing as Citizen and not as Apprentice.

I usually use Firefox, but I just tried in IE. Still no go.
