Sand And Sky - beta testers needed

Wednesday, April 22, 2009 by k10w3 | Discussion: Sneak Previews

I need some people to test this WB out for me that I've been creating.  I finished up on the shell animations today, and I think this is almost ready.  AVMAN was going to help me fix some things on it, but he's having trouble getting it to open in Skin Studio with the correct images, so I'd like some others to test this for me, and critique it.  Please post screenshots of any bugs you find.  Thanks in advance.

Hey Karen, for the XP version, special panel, the text is not showing on the bars. I believe this is due to the tga image you are using, this image, 99% sure, must be a bmp.

Opening in SKS 6, seems to be the correct images for me.

Start menu needs adjusting

You will need to adjust content margins for places side or redo image with the raised panel covering most of the image.

I used Stardock's Diamond as a template, and all of the Diamond images are .tga.  What is the "special panel" -- SKS6 doesn't use this term (remember, I'm still quite the newbie skinner, so I'm still learning the vocabulary).

O.K., I'll work on that.  Thanks for your input.

In SKS 6, XP specific sections, shell style bars and arrows.

Not all are, I just checked Diamond, the shell style bars and arrows are bitmaps in the skin.

Should be avoidable by adjusting margins smartly though? If it can't be done without ruining centering of items in english, perhaps it's good to add an "international" variation, where things are fitted appropriately. (As a service for those of us who run non-english).

After Sc4rfy posted this, I looked at it, and SKS6 said in order for it to look correct in Vista, I needed 6 arrow images, and I only had 3; since I don't have Vista, I have no idea whether this will fix the problem the skin has on Sc4rfy's machine or whether it will mess up on everybody elses.  DANG...I need a sugar daddy to buy me a new computer with Vista on it!

Obviously I don't have a clue why that could be happening, Harley.  The download I posted in this thread has all the Diamond parts removed.  Does SKS6 have a cache that can be cleaned out or something?

You don't need 6 images, but you can have it in Vista if you want the arrow to turn around when you click on "back" i.e like the tray expander arrow on the taskbar.

That won't effect the positioning of the text because the spacing is the same....you have just added more states to the button.

Sorry, I don't have Vista. So I can't test. Hope someone does it for you.

Nice looking skin.
