Just Updated to Version 1.02.051.

I have loaded and successfully applied 3 bootskins.

My locale is Australia.

I just hope I have not spoken to soon.

I was one of the priveleged few.... I had the patch sent to me.

Anyhow, Bootskin Pro is working as it should again... applies and makes bootskins, no problem.

Thanks to Zubaz and all who worked hard to bring us this fix, it is much appreciated.

Another release, and yes you guessed it still does NOT work.

Have purchased "Vista BootScreen" from "Intelegsoft." This program WORKS and I would suggest that "Stardock" investigates how they managed to get thier program to work and make the necessary ajustments to "Bootskin Pro," to get it to work.

I tried that a while back - before Bootskin Pro was released - and it didn't work any better... said it applied a bootscreen but that was not the case at reboot.

Maybe Intelegsoft have since fixed it, but I still prefer to use Bootskin Pro... which IS working for me now.

I'm very pleased that you have Bootskin Pro finally working, but in my case this is not applicable.

I agree that Vista Bootscreen did not function after the release of the SP1 Pack, but they have since released a later version (1.6) which works in all cases, including the pre-release of SP2.

I guess I will use that until Stardock gets Bootskin Pro working for all.

So the Vista Bootscreen software works for *everyone*? How do you know that? They don't have a public support forum I can find, so it wouldn't be as easy to see as it is here. Personally, I settle with software that works for me, it's too much hassle to make sure it's ok for everyone else before using it.

And really, why would you switch a working piece of software for some other software that does exactly the same thing? Specially since you paid for the other app already.

Firstly let me say that I did not say *everyone" as you so wrongly interpreted. It works on all MY computers with no problems.

Secondly, whilst I did pay for Vista Bootscreen, I also paid to receive Bootskin Pro by unnecessarily extending my subscription with "Stardock'" prior to it's renewal. (Regrettable).

Thirdly Bootskin Pro as implied by you, is not a working program for me.

Lastly read again the last sentence in my quoted paste......I have not given up on "Stardock."

You need to learn to read and interpret comments properly before you put forward your "Two Bobs" worth.

You actually said "until Stardock gets Bootskin Pro working for all", I (mistakenly it seems) interpreted that as working for all users, not just all your computers. I don't think it was a bad assumption on my part though.

You paid a full OD renewal *only* to get bootskin? That's a bummer. Sorry to hear that.

I know it doesn't work for you. It's quite apparent. I didn't see why you would want to switch the software when Stardock gets it to work though... I have since writing that post reconsidered that fact, and do indeed see a good reason to switch... I would assume (without checking, so I may be wrong) that the repository for Bootskin Vista is larger than the one for Vista Bootcreen, which is a good reason to want to switch.

I haven't said anything about you giving up on stardock anywhere, seems like you need learn to read and interpret comments properly before responding to my "Two Bobs" worth.

I didn't mean to attack you with my comment, I felt there was some questions left hanging in the air, and I was looking for some answers to that.

hi

I'm new in all of this - jut made my first change on my desktop. It looks like that:

And I have just a little problem with bootskin. It's working ok but I didn't find any interesting skins. I mean I'm looking for something Apple look like or OS X Snow Leopard.

There were two skins I found on wincustomize but they didn't work with BootSkin Vista. Is there any place to find more bootskins for vista? Or any way to make it? The program says that it's not possible to make my own bootskin on this version and I need to buy full version but there is any. I don't need all ObjectDesktop and I can't find any way to buy fuul BootSkin Vista. The link in program just transfer me to main page of stardock.com. Please someone help me? Maybe someone would make me a bootskin?

regards , LU

Why can you not do it yourself?  Creating a Vista Bootskin is as easy as can be (because there are no options).

Vista, right?

  • Open Bootskin (the one in ObjectDesktop, not the free one)
  • Click on the second tab "Create a bootskin"
  • Enter in the data
  • Browse for teh image
  • Click "Create Bootskin"
  • When complete, open the skins folder adn there it is!

Ah . . sorry.  No.

Bootskin may be stand-alone at some point but I can't say if or when.

BootSkin does change the image file, but when the system boots, there is no graphic displayed. I know that Windows 7 is still in RC and I was wondering if there is a resolution to this problem for this platform?

For the time being I have had to revert back to the standard boot logo which isn't as bad as some MS has pushed on us in the past, but still...

Last I read, BootskinPro is NOT supported as yet in Win 7... no doubt SD is working on it, so until they've ironed out the kinks i guess we'll have to be patient.
