I got the same exception, I see this is an issue. I'll wait for a solution. is it possible it has  something to do with security programs installed on the machine?s

cheesepenguins: please try unloading fences to see if having fences not running solves your explorer-crashing problem. to enable & disable fences, please try the following:

-Go the folder that Fences was uninstalled (likly c:\program files\stardock\fences')
-Rename fences' main DLL files "DesktopDock.dll" and "DesktopDock64.dll" (if 64bit windows) so anything other than their original filenames (tack an "_temp" onto the end or something of that nature)
-Reboot

See if that fixes the situation. If so, then I have more work to do to figure out your situation.

To put fences back, just rename the files back and reboot again.

Why the bump?  It's a lab type beta.  The dev has acknowledged the issue . . now we wait.

I noticed the issue that cheesepenguins had posted was mentioned. but that one included something different, and since only that one was addressed, I brought the post up to date.

I will endeavor to ask permission prior to bumping in the future.
