ObjectDock Weather Docklet not working anymore
Sunday, May 11, 2008 by kratonator | Discussion: Stardock Support General
Hi all.
I had OD running for over one and a half years now and the weather docklet always worked. Since Thursday or Friday it only displays "Weather Information not Available". Is there somenthing wrong with weather.com?

I am not expert on ObjectDock so my answere may be irrelevant. I just want to know weather in Ankara, Turkey as in the following picture. I also tried different cities and countries but it still is not working.

I tried your location and got "feed not available" as well. It works fine for other locations however. Since you say it worked before and replacing the ocx file didn't repair it,(and you are sure you replaced the ocx file correctly) I would guess it is an Accuweather glitch. The best fix in this case may just be a little patience. Hang in there,it should fix itself in a day or two.

Thank you for your effort. I think a little patience will solve my problem. However, I also tried Berlin, germay and same error. Anyway, I have to wait:)

hasan_hzl: Try a zip code and see if it works. I would suggest 48170, which is our home town of Plymouth, MI

Yes, I tried it and it is also not working. I think there is a problem in my network for accu weather server:(

I'm using it just fine in Ireland. I just reconfigured it for Ankara, Turkey and its working ok. They're having thunderstorms today.

hasan_hzl: check to make sure you have exclusions set for ObjectDock in any security apps you have installed. They may be preventing the Accuweather feed from coming through.

I re-installed the objectdock. Now it shows all weather informations ("48104", "48170", "Istanbul, Turkey") but interestingly not "Ankara, Turkey".
Also, I have cFosSpeed and JDownloader installed. When I open JDownloader and start to download at nearly full speed, weather docklet stops working for all locations. When close it, docklet starts to work for all locations except Ankara, Turkey. I think cFosSpeed blocks the objectdock eventhough I set the objectdock as fully accesable to the internet via the program.

Been using ObjD's default weather docklet for hmmm a couple months on Vista, and a couple weeks on Win7. In both instances, when I first use the docklet it works great. Then later that day or the next day, it can't find its feed and displays N/A instead, turning a cool good-looking gadget into ugly crapola. I hope it gets fixed, because it's cool whether I really use it or not. Otherwise, it will get deleted and tried from time to time. Always works for awhile, then poops out. Occasionally, like today, it will spontaneously work again, smiling sunshine all over...then goes belly up to N/A again a few minutes later.
BTW...re whoever posted about the days...it is supposed to show Wed-Sun when it's Tue...because Tue is showing in the main today's data area, not in the forecast. Forecast is for 5 future days (6 total).

And go me, I tried updating to the newest version, and it works fine. Why I didn't think of this before, I have no idea.
kratonator, have you tried just installing a new version?

stardockweather.ocx should be in C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Stardock (if not on 64 bit, lose the (x86) )

Thanks Shirley,I didn't realize it was in two locations. I've had good results replacing the one in the OD folder,I never tried replacing the one in Common Files.
Btw,Win7 seems to work properly and has never needed the .ocx replaced where on Vista it has to be replaced from time to time to connect properly.(or at the very least,OD has to be closed then reopened.)
