Sound Packager Problems

...and I just got WB to work...*sigh*

When I try to change sound schemes through SoundPackager, I get the dreaded "SoundPackager has encountered a problem and needs to shut down" screen. I can still go through the Control Panel- Sound/Audio Devices option and set the scheme in there, but I'd like to get SP working.

I read through the past forums and tried the suggestions in those (uninstall -removing themes, skins, etc- , reboot, reinstall, reboot), but nothing seems to work. Any clues or suggestions?

Is it one theme that is doing it? Also what is your OS?

I,m havin' some problems, too. I'm usin' a machine I put together and sometimes I catch. Am I suppose to buy this program? I've got the object desktop and all. I keep getting a 'buy it' message. I've done the usual 'tried everything' bit. It's something in program. I really like the program. If they tried the sound program found in desktop architect with their program it might be clearer to those who like to play with goofy sounds on their computers.

Same problem here....gave up on it. Would be great if it worked for me...but I just change my sounds myself.

Unfortunately I can't speak for Vista, not using it. I did have a problem though when the first non beta was released. Had to uninstall everything, reboot and then reinstall. I understand that this is not working for everyone.

I wonder if there is a problem of where the sounds their self are being installed? You know the problem that came about in the WB6 release with moving files, wonder if something like that could be causing the problem?

OK...so it is not a "josh" issue...and it is not an operating system issue...any other ideas?

I had such problems with SoundPackager that I finally uninstalled the application. It had completely fouled my XP Media Center's ability to hold on to ANY set of sounds for any period of time, whether using SoundPackager or through Control Panel/Sounds. For example, I had installed OfficeSounds from Microsoft which was applied for years with whatever version of MS Office I am using (now MS Office 2007). Well, SoundPackager managed to "lose" those sounds whenever it was loaded and any Office application in use was soundless. Perhaps after several upgrades I'll try it again but I prefer some sounds than silence.

I am stuck with the windows 95 sounds on my vista, until I manually update them or if Soundpackager gets fixed or updated...ironic....

Has anyone tried to manually delete the sounds from soundpackager as a fix? If so, where does the program load the sounds?

Sorry guys, I've had the same issue. Try to open SP & get a message that it has stopped working & will be shut down, Windows is checking for a possible solution. Vista Ultimate 32. SP never worked from day 1, always the same message.

Well, for all you peeps...I fixed my problem. I deleted SP, deleted the folders for SP, searched the registry for any SP lines. Rebooted. Uninstalled the sound drivers for my PC (maybe unnecessarily), reboot. reinstalled sound card drivers, rebooted. reinstalled SP. rebboted. Voila! works perfect!!!

Sure would be great if someone actually fixed this bug... I've tried all suggestions but to no avail. How could such a solid company let such a big bug slide?
