Objects Vs Widgets

What exactly is the difference between Objects and Widgets??

Tuesday, January 23, 2007 by jphlips | Discussion: DesktopX

I am new to using objects/widgets and am wondering if the only real difference is that widgets can be run without DesktopX running. I don't really use any of the features of DesktopX so I would think exporting objects as widgets would be the best option.... but I have no idea on the impact of the CPU and RAM on my machine.... Can anyone help a newbie out?

Objects require DesktopX to be fully loaded to work and widgets only require DesktopX to be installed. Widgets have more features which include options to minimize and/or display an icon in the system tray as well as others. Gadgets are fully executable programs made with the DesktopX Pro version and they don't require the gadget user to have DesktopX at all.
