Saturday, September 23, 2006 by sh0rt4j00 | Discussion: Beginners

I'm new to this site as a memember. I've just been comng and getting wallpapers at various times, but now I want a firefox theme.

So, I found one I liked and dowloaded it to get a readme file and some .jar file that dosen't work. Please let me know how I can get this theme to work. I'm sorry if theirs a tutorial somewhere, but I can't find it.

Also, what is WindowBlinds?

Thanks,
Dezzy

Open FireFox > Click Tools > Themes > click the Install button > find the .jar file > click open > the theme will install.

Just click and drag the .jar file and drop it into themes list.

Thanks, that works but every Theme I try to install says something is wrong with its Install Manifest, and to contact the owner and such.

What version of FireFox? Quit FireFox and start it up again.

I exited all mozilla windows, then opened it up again and that didn't work, neither did restarting my computer.

Some firefox themes were designed for previous versions of FireFox and may not work with the latest release. Which theme was it?

macfox and ifox smooth (which I downloaded from the firefox website) installed fine, but I can't get eathier one to show up.

I really liked Smooth Alternative by Matt Holder and Riga Dark Aqua SafariFox by MPAMPoULAs (which I downloaded from WinCustomize) both of which couldn't download properly.

I just tried ifox from the site and it works fine. Just click on Tools/Themes then click on the theme you want to use in the left column and then click on Use Theme button at the bottom. You will get a message under the theme you selected that says "Restart FireFox to use". Just quit FireFox and then start FireFox up again.

If that doesn't work then there is a problem with your installation of FireFox.

By quitting firefox, do you mean just close all the windows then start them up again?

Yes...also I tried Riga Dark Aqua and it didn't install for me either...they're pretty old themes and FF has been updated many times since then. I would think those themes no longer work for the current version 1.5.0.7

The Mozilla site has the most FF themes...or try DeviantARt.
