uis info missing from files

Hi all,
I've been trying to install a few WB skins, and whenever I do a D/L I get a message saying that there is no uis data in the file, and asking if I'm sure it's a WB file. Is anyone else having this problem? Any ideas? I've tried some skins at random, and it seems to be happening with all of them.

I've had the same problem for months now; stardock tech support has not been very helpful. And, no, the skins are not .zip files, they're .wba files. This doesn't happen all the time, maybe just 90% of the time. I've also checked these boards, and I'm getting really frustrated (I paid money for this, and I'm not getting what I paid for!). Help, somebody!

Sventekoz, jstehn2 ...... If each of you would describe 'exactly' what steps you take when downloading, and installing, (and what browser you use)... someone might be able to help.

I, too, have that problem often. I use use internet explorer browser, I download as 'save target as'. If it's zip, then I unzip. I do every download the same and still have the same error. I have only about 10% with this problem, but usually the skins that I would really have work.

This is usually caused by XP SP2 grabbing the zip file association in the absence of a zip program like WinZip. A .wba is just a re-named .zip and Windows can get confused. Go to Explorer > Tools > Folder Options > File Types and scroll down to WBA, click on 'change', a new window will pop up, click 'browse' and select wbload.exe, usualy found at C:\Program Files\Stardock\Object Desktop\Windowblinds\wbload.exe.
When you click on a skins download link, the blind should automatically install. Alternatively you can download the .wba file, then double click the .wba, that should install it too.

For about 2 weeks now if I save the .wba and then open it later 8 of of 10 times I get the no .uis file message - If I go to the file (it saved as a .wba) and consider changing it to a .zip {just in case} I find out the extracted folder is empty.
Every once in a while (as in sometimes but not too often) the same message happens downloading with Firefox and using the open with WB option.

Most often, I simply click on the 'download' button - and when it's finished downloading I get the balloon pop up from WB asking if I want to install the skin. The ones I've been trying are definitely not .zip files. I've even tried to 'Save as' - but the file sizes are only about 150kb - way short of the 1Mb or 2Mb I'm expecting.

50Mb limit? I haven't heard of that.
In any case, the problem seems to be with Internet Explorer. I've just tried Firefox and Opera, and they both work just fine. It's only IE that refuses to play...

Ahh sorry thought it wasn't browser-specific.
Hmm some people do put skin file inside a zip file. Tried saving as a file then checking it out yet?

Yep Mr XX. For some reason, IE won't save it properly either. It seems to have maintained a link to the 'problem' and keeps throwing up the error. No problems with the other browsers though.

Nope - no download managers at all. Oh well - maybe it's something to do with all the server issues going on at the moment...
