WB - drop down menu woes

Hi all o/
I'm currently attempting my first WB skin, using SkinStudio (registered), and mostly it's going great, but...
I'm having endless hassles with the drop down menus, I keep tweaking and fiddling but they never seem to come out right.
Specifically: I'm finding that unless I use really teeny fonts some of the items don't fit into the background and some of the items text overlaps with it's keyboard shortcut.
Also, how can I configure the colour (color!) of the arrows for those items with pop outs?
And finally, the image I created for the mouseover state for items won't stretch to the full width of the menu.
Can someone enlighten me as to the error of my ways? Or point me to some web resources other than the standard tutorial at Stardock..

I registered skinstudio (along with the other programs in the object desktop package) and updated my unregistered version thru Stardock Central, but it's only 3.0.0.8 or something - maybe I will try uninstalling and reinstalling
not sure I do understand your "glitchy" painting, but thx for the effort are you saying small is beautiful?

lol @ me, didn't check the "show pre-release versions" option in the view menu of sdc o/
I still need help configuring these darn menus tho, especially the text overunning the edge of the drop down menu/overlapping the keyboard shortcut issues...any ideas? ...anyone?

This is what I do.......... open a skin (in SkinStudio) that has a menu working the way you like it, and check out it was set up.

I sorted most of my troubles - discovering that drop down menus have borders was a good start.
Documentation for SkinStudio is sorely lacking in detail methinks...
