Village Idiot: Thanks!

Jewels: That's not so good. Unfortunately I don't know what the problem is here - it's not non-rectangular or anything like that which would cause it to have slow shadow rendering. You could try disabling menu shadows in Control Panel/Performance and Maintenance/System/Advanced/Performance Settings to see if that helps.

I've been using WB for a few years now and this skin is my ALL-TIME FAVORITE!

I love your skin and think its the best color scheme of all. But I've encountered a problem when using Powerpoint 2003. For some reason, with your skin, the text on the outline pane becomes blank and is unreadable. Any way to fix this?

This is my all-time favorite as well - Microsoft should use this as the default in Longhorn. But, I do notice the "disappearing" text problem in some applications the text seems to set itself to the same color as the background, I believe. Seems to happen in menus, etc. I think I read about a fix for the problem in IE ages ago, but I can't remember it Reaper, any idea what might be going on and how to fix it? WARNING: If it was fixed I would probably never use any skin but Blackcomb ever again

Hey guys. Yes, this is a problem, and, alas, it will continue to be a problem because most people do not test with button text set to white. Often menus are white and people use button text for the text, and white-on-white ensues. There is a fix for IE, it is called iefix.reg and it's in the Blackcomb directory - double-click to install. All it does is set up the colours dialog correctly. However, it won't fix anything else.

One thing you could maybe try is setting the button text to be a very light, but not white colour. That might show up, at least enough for you to be able to make it out. The edit would be easy with SkinStudio, it's just Miscellaneous/Colours and in the section on the right, 3D Controls/Text - System Button. Hope that helps a bit.

Thanks, Reaper!

I went ahead and changed the button text color to BLACK in SkinStudio, and everything looks fantastic now, and I have yet to run into any problems with applications with black-on-black button text/box issues. Blackcomb really is the bees knees...

Thanks, Timoleon and Reaper. I just did the same thing, and it works great!

Thanks much.

Since a wallpaper was the only thing missing I thought I would help out and provide a link to one I found. What irritates me about purchasing WB from Stardock is that they offer these skins as part and parcel with the program but you have to "search" at WC.com for the walls.

Link

MSN Butterfly wallpaper. Not black like in the preview for this skin but it works.

Yes, unfortunately they decided to use certain colours for that, and the choices they made did not match. However, I now see these types of boxes as skinned checkboxes here in WindowBlinds 4.49a[beta] under Windows XP using the Blackcomb Dark subskin (it seems to work for other subskins) - perhaps if you had that, they would show up more visibly for you?

All of VoodooFreak's Blackcomb wallpapers go great with this. It's amazing --- there are so many wonderful WindowBlinds skins out there, but I always find myself coming back to Blackcomb!
