The menu popping up from the dock persuaded me into using it. Thanks!
Small hint: you might want to change the name of 'readme.txt' into something like 'startmenu.txt' or so, if you expect people to copy stuff into the docklet folder, or it will clash with other readme.txts.

mikhailk: thank fkewe for that suggestion I am still perfectioning it, getting rid of the "double popup"-effect. Managed to get it working for xp-style, and again, classic style is a bit harder.

Well actually, I expect people to copy this stuff into Docklets/Startmenu/, but I get your point, will change it in the next release.

Andreas,

The menu works great for me. Thanks for the docklet!

Any chance of you doing a "show desktop" docklet anytime soon?

Thanks

I managed to get rid of the "double popup" for the XP style menu. Now working on the classical menu, which, as usual, is more difficult. Those of you who want to test the beta release of this "no double popup" startmen-docklet can e-mail me averhoev.2@hccnet.nl

mnunes: there are 2 versions included in this one:

Startmenu docklet
works for both xp style and classical
Startmenu2 beta
works only for xp style and you must click precisely on the dock icon.

You need to place all files into a new folder called "startmenu" in your docklets folder.

The old one worked... Thsi one just pops up where my start button is on my taskbar.

To clarify - the startmenu no longer works... The startmenu2 beta works fine.

Workaround suggestion for double popup victims: position your taskbar to the righthand side of your screen. There will be still be a double pop up effect, but it won't be so dramatic by far. (In fact, I hardly knew what people were talking about, but it might be different on your screen resolution.)

P.S. and perhaps stating the obvious: Your start menu icon should be on the righthand end of your screen too!

MKhail: nice workaround kudos! (double-popup only occurs with the classic style startmenu).

I hope nobody see this as an unwanted plug, but I've created a startbutton icon for Startmenu (the default icon isn't working for me) and my icons occasionally don't make it to the general icon pages, so you should probably get it from my own list:
