Comment #4 Wednesday, September 24, 2003 9:42 PM
yeah it would be nice to know how to install... im guessing the dll goes in the windows dir? I have no idea what the .func file is... or what mail progs it works with?
Comment #5 Wednesday, September 24, 2003 9:46 PM
sorry for the dumb question... didnt realize it was a docklet, duh... anyway for those that need help. Create a folder in the C:\program files\stardock\objectdock \docklets\ directory called "mail" or something like that
then click on the "configure dock" icon and go to docklets... click mail checker and then click add. then click the icon to setup your acct.

sorry for the dumb comment below... maybe add a txt file to the archive?

You beat me to it. I was making one of these but my pop3 protocol wasn't working.
zeriun: you can make multiple copies of the docklet on the same dock for multiple mailboxes.

IMAP will be done,
SSL why not?
Some other requests too?

About the icon: if someone can me some icons, it will be done.
Comment #11 Thursday, September 25, 2003 2:44 PM
Well. I admit I haven't used it, so apologies if it already does this, but: It would be good if the user could choose which icon they wanted for each state (I have many hundreds of icons for example). It would also be good if clicking on the icon ran a mail client of choice.

Icons-choosing is coming
Mail client: that's a good one yeah.

Het zou echt te gaaf zijn als je het zo kunt maken dat als er een nieuw berichtje is, de PNG kan animeren of dat men zijn eigen animerende PNG kan plaatsen.

'translation' It would be great is you could make it so that when you get an email, the PNG would animate in some form, or that the user can place their own animated PNG.

Thanks for the great app tho!

would it be possible to have hotmail support?
Comment #16 Saturday, October 04, 2003 12:00 PM
Hey guys, if you use Mozilla like I do, you've probably already discovered that you can't open the mail client directly from mailchecker. I finally figured out a workaround so that you can open Mozilla's mail client from mailchecker.

Create a shortcut in your Mozilla folder and call it MozillaMail, and set the path to mozilla.exe. Click OK and all that. Then right-click the MozillaMail.lnk you just cerated and select properties. Modify the path by adding

OUTSIDE the quotation marks. Then set mailchecker to point to MozillaMail.lnk. You'll have to type MozillaMail.lnk in by hand because for some reason you can't browse to it and have it work.

digital_trucker: great work:)

Oh, and another thing...

If you want to use a different icon without having to reset it every time you start OD, just take the icon you want and replace the mailcheck.png with it. Of course, you have to use a png and rename it to mailcheck.png.

I said I am working on it

Is it possible to encrypt the e-mail password? I noticed in the ini file it is displayed in plain text. Scary!
