Pretty slick. I'd like to see the icon change when a new email arrives, and show the number of them right on the icon itself (similiar to the temperature on the weather docklet). It would also be handy to click the icon and have it bring up your email prog.

Judge - double clicking will open the mail client of your choice. Andreas - thanks for the mailchecker! I like that it will display the number of emails recieved.

Digital trucker - it does show the number of new emails on the icon. Do you guys try the docklets before commenting?

Insert foot in mouth! I just double clicked on the icon after recieving mail and it did not work correctly. It does open a mail client of choice when double clicking on it when there is no mail notification.

bmetelsky - better insert the other foot also. Prior to this update (which my earlier post was), the number of new mails only showed in the title, not on the icon itself like it does now LOL

AndreasV,

It does not work correctly when double clicking after notifying the user of a new email. The "insert foot in mouth" was me poking fun at myself for speaking too soon.

bmetelsy, I kinda thought that's what it was

Your double-click problem is kinda strange, though. That part works fine for me (WinXP, btw). My problem is that I use Mozilla, and it's built-in mail client won't open that way. I've got to open the mail client after MailChecker opens Mozilla. I could use Thunderbird, I guess, but...

bmetelsky:
What's your the path you set for the emailclient?
What exactly happens if you doubleclick?

digital_trucker, maybe a solution (I don't use mozilla): there is a chance Mozilla will open the mailclient directly by using some parameters like -mail or something, maybe there is something in the documents about this?

AndreasV,

If I try to double click after mail notification, the dialogue with headers pops up and interferes with the normal opening of the mail program (outlook) that I have pointed to. If I click on and there is no mail, it does open outlook without problems.

AndreasV - nope, that won't work. Apparently, only the developers builds can use command-line parameters. Oh weel, time to dust off the Thunderbird.

Sorry to be a nag, but if you choose a different icon, mailchecker always reverts to the default one when you restart OD. The work-around for this is to pick your new icon and rename it to 'mailcheck.png'. Shouldn't have to do that, though.

bmetelsky - I get that too, but luckily it doesn't seem to interfere with my prog (I don't use OE, though). I still have to close the dialogue box.

Thanks for the good work, Andreas! I'll second the icon change request. Also, could it just be a single click (and skip that popup)? Christ, what a whiner I am!

Again, thanks!

gersma: the double-clicking is kinda tricky indeed, I personally think it's a bug in Object Dock, but I will change the way the clicking works

And again, if you like this docklet and you are using it, send me a postcard of your town to me

Very nice docklet, it realy comes in handy.
Only one thing to remark : that double clicking thing is really tricky....
When i click the icon once the headers apear, ok, when i double click, they apear another time, causing the mail icon to shift a bit to the right, result : my second click of the double click ends on the icon next to the mail icon, so starting another application...
i think this shiftproblem is caused by the header window that apears.
i personnaly think it would be better off with a rightclick menu : one that say : show headers..., the otherone : open client...

Great work otherwise, as i said very handy...

Kind Regards,
Gersma
