How do you guys get the newssection to update?
this theme is running for 1 week straight now and it still says: "awaiting news update"
I've entered a correct rss-feed. I even changed it back to the original rss-feed and to the example-feed, but it is still saying "awaiting news update"
Can someone help me?

I already tried the manual update button but it still keeps saying: "awaiting news update"
Other skins don't have that problem, so what am I doing wrong here?

Nevertheless... Awesome theme!!! I think I'll be using this one for a looooong time

It looks like there's a Firefox ActiveX control now:

http://www.iol.ie/~locka/mozilla/mozilla.htm

It's the only thing keeping me fomr using this theme, otherwise it's perfect.

thanks,

Terrific theme - thanks for sharing. Will definitely be my new working environment.

Sadly I managed somehow to permanently crash the RSS news display:
I tried to add 'http://www.heise.de/newsticker/heise.rdf' as RSS source. Header was displayed but no messages (don't know why). But THEN I tried some other feed from 'http://www.presseportal.de/rss/rss.htx' Maybe it is because the header is too long, however the display is corrupted and the control for changing RSS source is not visible anymore. I cannot change it back.

Any suggestions?

Agglo: Not sure why this has happened. You probably need to delete the stored value from the registry.

Unload DesktopX then use Regedit.

I can't remember exactly where in the registry it is (and I'm at work so can't check). It's something like HKCU/Software/DesktopWidgets/Desktop/Newsfeed.

Just search for "DesktopWidgets" or maybe "Desktop Widgets" and delete the newsfeed line in the desktop section.

After that it should work OK when you restart DX. I'll have a look at the problem with these feeds when I get home.

Thank you Martin, removing the feed from the registry fixed the problem.
However I am not sure why the other feed (http://www.heise.de/newsticker/heise.rdf) does not work.

Agglo, these feeds should work now. They are not well formatted which is what causes the problems. The new version is more tollerant of this.

This is a great theme. This is a good shift toward making the desktop a functional space. Nice work. Thanks.

jakehale, after you download the file, simply double-click on it (wherever you placed it when you downloaded it) and it will load automatically. From that point on, you should be able to find it in your list of DesktopX themes. As well, the other way to do it is to load it via Windows Explorer. E.g.: find the file through explorer and just double-click on it - C:\program files\stardock\objectdesktop\desktopx\themes\ ... and then whatever theme you want to load (taking for granted your destination path is the same as mine, but hopefully you get the idea).

Sorry - right click the blue area at the bottom of the Desktop tab and click Properties to edit the object first
